Ireland: a personal landscape project

Posted by Eddo on September 22, 2011

In the past week I have spent my time driving around Ireland, as a holiday. Due to the fact that I was alone, I had set myself the task to also make this a project of improving my landscape photography. The rugged coast and interior of Ireland should offer plenty of opportunities for me to photograph, a project I dubbed “Magic Ireland” during my first days overseas.

When I got to Ireland a surprise was their left for me, the remnants of hurricane Katia would come over the country in the next few days. This meant that large swells should be hitting the shores. These 100+km/h winds left quite some damage in the county’s Sligo and Donegal, where people have spent a day without electricity, but the rest of Ireland was quite unaffected. When I left Ireland the major part of the county’s Sligo and Donegal had again power, but some separate houses and farms still had to cope without electricity.

I still could go on for quite some time with a long story about my trip, but I’d rather let the photos tell the story of this trip. Below are three of my favourite photos from this trip, but a larger selection of the photos I made on this trip can be found in this Flickr set.

Prints are available for purchase, if you are interested please contact me.
